A Honey of a Meal - SRA Martinez Restaurant

I'm in Miami for a few days and have been trying out the local food fare. Day three and my favorite by far is SRA. Martinez, a Spanish tapas restaurant by Chef Michelle Bernstein in the now hip Design District. Housed in a former post office building, the artichitecure of the location adds to the ambiance of the restaurant.

I look over the menu and my stomach rumbles, the sound of my stomach telling me "feed me the mouth-watering dishes now". I select the Sweet, Spicy and Salty Grilled Organic Chicken and Brussel Sprouts with Honey Mustard Miso Glaze . The honey miso glaze gives the Brussels sprouts and chicken an impeccable flavor. I wouldn't say brussel sprouts are my favorite vegetable but serve me the brussel sprouts with honey miso glaze and I'll gladly eat them everyday (okay, okay, every other day). The pomegranate seeds also balance the flavors of the dish. I'm always surprised of dishes that seem as though random ingredients were thrown together but upon tasting, the meticulous planning and scientific combination of ingredients create a savory dish.

Dessert time! This is my favorite part of a meal - the "icing on the cake" (pun intended). I select Chef Bernstein's Fig and Honey Clafouti with Hazelnuts and Brown Butter Ice Cream, a dessert masterpiece. A twist on the traditional flan, the figs provide an element of surprise that complement the brown butter ice cream and flan perfectly. The flavors blend together to create a party in my mouth.

SRA. Martinez, you get two thumbs up!
